There's no application process. Level Up scholars are selected by our team in partnership with UC admissions based on first-generation status and demonstrated potential.

Our team identifies promising first-generation students from UC's incoming class. Selection is based on your potential for success and commitment to growth—not a separate application or interview.

Selected scholars receive a personal invitation with all program details. You'll learn about the support, mentorship, and opportunities waiting for you throughout your UC journey.

Everything you need to know about being a Level Up Cincinnati scholar
Level Up scholars are selected through our partnership with the University of Cincinnati. Selection is based on first-generation college student status, Pell Grant eligibility, and demonstrated potential for success.
There is no separate application or interview process. If you've been invited to join Level Up, congratulations—you're already in!
Monthly mentor meetings: Meet with your mentor once per month at a time that works for your schedule, typically 1-2 hours.
Program events: Attend 5 mandatory events per year, including workshops, networking opportunities, and community gatherings.
The program is designed to support your success without overwhelming your schedule.
We match students with their mentors every summer before the beginning of the school year. You'll meet your mentor at Match Day, our annual kickoff event where scholars and coaches are paired.
This gives you time to build your relationship before the semester starts, so you have support from day one.
No problem! We support scholars in all majors. Changing your major doesn't affect your participation in Level Up Cincinnati.
Your mentor and the Level Up team are here to support you through all the twists and turns of your college journey, including major changes.
We support scholars for up to 5 years of undergraduate education. Throughout your time at UC, you'll work with two dedicated mentors who will guide you through every milestone.
Our goal is to be with you from freshman orientation to graduation day and beyond.
Outside of Match Day (our annual summer kickoff event), there is no required programming during the summer.
This intentional break ensures you can focus on internships, job opportunities, and other experiences that build your resume and career.
Yes. Level Up Cincinnati is specifically designed to support first-generation college students who are navigating higher education without the benefit of parental college experience.
This focus allows us to provide targeted support that addresses the unique challenges first-gen students face.
Once you're selected as a Level Up scholar, you'll receive login credentials and instructions for accessing the app at app.levelupcincinnati.org
The app is your central hub for connecting with your mentor, viewing upcoming events, accessing resources, and staying connected with the Level Up community.
